Good Journey - Getting to Trelissick Car-free

New from June 2024: the new era for bus travel promised by Cornwall Council continues with the introduction of the 'Good Journey' website route planner, listing various options of getting to Trelissick Gardens without using the car!

Visit by bus for just £2 each way. Most buses in England are offering £2 Single Fares until 31st December 2024. Our journey planner will show you if your route is included, or you can find a full list of participating operators and routes here.

It’s a real adventure to visit Trelissick car-free.

Ferries from Falmouth, Malpas and the opposite bank stop outside. Just walk 5 mins up the zig-zag path, enjoying the view.

Buses from Truro stop at the garden (20 mins) a few times per day.

Trains run to Truro from Bodmin Parkway (35 mins), Penzance (40 mins) and St Austell (15 mins).

To remind residents, following an intervention by Feock Parish Council an amendment was been made to the route which means that the bus drives through Feock village with a new ‘hail and ride’ stop at Trevilla before going on to Trelissick Garden. This means that anyone wanting to enjoy the parkland and gardens at Trelissick can now do this easily and safely. With reduced bus fares for all, plus concessionary fares for the elderly it will even be a financial winner with the NT non members parking fee paying for the bus fare or a cup of coffee.

What does ‘hail and ride’ mean? Simply it means that if you want to use the bus, not just for Trelissick but for Truro as well, just check the timetable (eg St Feock Church 9.42am or 11.42am) stand in a lay-by near the junction of Trevilla Hill and Trevilla Road and when the bus comes in sight put your hand out and the bus will pick you up.

Hail and Ride Bus Service

Being a rural route the buses do not come in threes but with two morning journeys to Trelissick and two afternoon journeys back through the village there is ample time to enjoy what must be one of the top visitor destinations in Cornwall, an attraction that is fortunately on our doorstep. Shopping trips to Truro are also now possible at reasonable cost saving parking fees with a bus stop in the centre of town opposite the Hall for Cornwall.

In addition to the revised route and lower prices, improved signage will be introduced at all the bus stops in Feock village in the next few weeks. We are also seeking to have larger print size timetables produced and we would be interested to know if this is an issue for anyone.
