HAIRE Feock and Feock Parish Council would like to thank you for those supporters, performers, and everyone who came along to our ‘Party in the Park’ event at Pengelly Meadows Recreation Area (Carnon Downs) in May. What a fantastic day it was!
On the build up to this community event Devoran Scouts kindly helped us erect their marquee for us to use in the field, which was then later decorated with colourful bunting made by those who attend our HAIRE crochet & sewing workshop (Fridays from 10am @ CD Village Hall). Our wellbeing team had carefully planned the event for the last few months inviting local groups, clubs and societies to perform and/or showcase what they do to enable local people to find out what is happening in our beautiful Parish of Feock.
Paul Lightfoot (Vice Chair of Feock Parish Council) put a shout out on Radio Cornwall the morning of the event. Programmes were hot off the printers and we had the support of a lovely resident who kindly transported the tables & chairs from Carnon Downs Methodist Church, who had loaned them, down to the field where we met friendly stall holders, performers and helpers setting up, ready to get the party started!
There were tasty treats and homemade cakes, delicious BBQ food, including jam and chutney homemade by local residents. We had amazing live performances right throughout the afternoon from Celtic Chords, Devoran School Recorder Club, Stagezone Youth Theatre, Andy Morter (local singer), Duncan Gee (Accordionist) and The Aggie Folk Band. Plus, our fully trained fitness instructor and amazing staff member, Cathy Whitmore, ran a ‘constant’ demo on the newly installed outdoor gym equipment. Cathy experienced an endurance test herself by the constant flow of people testing out the new equipment! The children's carousel was constantly spinning, the local Police PCSO's dropped in with their Police Car & kit for the kids to try on...I don't think the siren went off at any point, maybe next time!! Not forgetting a parked pitch for the local Electric Car Scheme.
I was blown away by the number of people that came along to the event and for the kindness you all brought by coming together and getting involved to make such an amazing day. I can truly say that this fantastic event will be imprinted on my heart for a very long time! Thank goodness we had the loan of the GP Surgery Car Park as I heard someone had even travelled from as far as Bodmin! I loved every minute of it, and I hope you all did too. We have received some lovely feedback so thank you to those who took the time to get in touch, it means so much to our wellbeing team to receive such incredible support.
We are already starting to plan our next community event, which will be happening in Feock (Retallack Recreation Area), Saturday 3rd September. So, keep your eyes peeled for updates via this website or follow us on Facebook – ‘MyFeock Wellbeing’
If you would like to support our Wellbeing Team in some way please get in touch. We have lots of opportunities available to help build a brighter future for our community.
